Rev. Ken Porter has always dreamed of planting an inner city church. The opening of the Good News Chapel on 1380 Elphinstone St has allowed him to do just that. In order to pursue this dream more fully, he has stepped down as Executive Director of Souls Harbour RESCUE Mission, and become full time Senior Chaplain of Good News Chapel instead.
Michelle Porter has stepped up to fill his shoes. Here are her comments on her new role:
“As one of the founding directors, I assumed wearing the hat of Executive Director wouldn't be so different. What I discovered is no secret to most leaders. . .
The Bible says that to desire leadership is a good thing. But it isn't easy! Be prepared for the burden of leadership. The buck stops with you, which means that you stand before God, giving account for those people he's put in your charge. And your goal is to strengthen the mission of the Mission. . .
So, while I take care of my staff, and delve into this new role as Executive Director, I personally ask for your prayers and support of me and this Mission that God has raised up.”
