News & Needs

Full name: Larry George Irwin Wright
Age: 39 years
Educational background: Grade 12 with a certificate in Rescue Ministry

What is your official title at the Mission?
Resident Manager
Briefly, describe your duties at the Mission?
I keep the residents informed of their obligations as mission residents and provide feasible communication to solve any problems that occur during their stay. Also I give scriptural counseling on a scheduled basis or on residents demand.
How many years have you been working in RESCUE ministry?
3 years
How did God bring you into RESCUE ministry?
I went through the mission’s program and then God inspired me to try helping others correct their relationships with him.

What church do you attend?
Regina Vineyard Christian Fellowship
Please share your testimony.
I was a spiritually corrupted, misled young man who then became self-supportive in a disillusionment that was brought about by worldly desire and worldly leadership.
When I had grown weary from the monotony and hardships that rebellion required, and was at the end of my resources, (wits end), God’s grace showed me the confusion I was living in, and corrected any misunderstandings I had with Jesus Christ. Those conflicts with Christ had given me ground to continue my sinful life but now there was none, and I need not focus on such selfish activities any longer.
Which scripture passage means the most to you?
Colossians 1:16 For all things were created in Him, the things in the heavens, and the things on the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers, all things were created through Him and for Him.
Also, Isaiah 13:11-13 means a lot.

What is your dream vacation, assuming you have unlimited time and money?
Living on a giant rowboat on a fresh water lake, the boat could have sails too.
What is your dream vacation based on your pay and schedule at the Mission?
Playing in the wurl bath at the mission with my toy row boat; that has sails too.
Describe what you would consider to be the most succulent meal?
All I could eat triple burgers for the price of one.
What is your preferred means of transportation and why?
Walking, because it gives me the opportunity to see how much I have missed, because of the worldly stipulations that had been laid down by Satan on me. In addition, it gives Jesus Christ the opportunity to communicate with me, without the distraction of those stipulations, enabling Him to conquer them.
If you could have any job or position at the Mission, which would it be and why?
I like my job, (and maybe the program directors); keeping in touch with the residents and helping them relate to changes that take place during their stays here, in correlation to our sinful deaths and then spiritual resurrections, is something I enjoy. I feel the residents enjoy sharing with someone who has died a similar sinful testimony and whose been freed from the bondages of addictive behaviors, and I enjoy being there to relate.
What do you do for downtime?
Too much sometimes.
Where were you born?
Regina
Where would you like to be 14 years from now?
54 years old in the future and 14 years closer with Jesus.
What is the best part about working at the Mission?
All the great people I work with, and all the great people I meet, in all other areas here at the mission.
If you could learn any language, which would it be and why?
Hebrew; I would love to read and translate the bible from its original texts; just as a hobby, not because I feel no one has properly done that.
What is your favourite flavour of ice cream?
Cold, very very cold.
